quick and easy teacher gifts...

I whipped up these quick teacher gifts for the kids to take tomorrow. I am such a sucker for a wide mouthed mason jar! These little half pint jars were perfect. I just stuffed them with jolly ranchers, made up some cute tags and taped them to the top, added a little ribbon and I was done!

The tags say, "Have a Jolly Christmas" cheesy I know...

I think these jars are just darling! They almost look like someone squashed a regular sized jar. Love it!

december happenings...

Owen is getting SO big! He loves to sit and watch the family move about so I pulled out the Bumbo chair that my mom and dad bought for him. We have never had one before and Owen just LOVES it! I think he looks so cute sitting up like a big boy!

This Monday we went and picked out our tree! Once again...just like last year...we found the perfect tree the moment we walked in. Last year we remembered how anti climactic it felt to be done so quickly that even though we had our tree we walked around for a bit looking at all the shapes and sizes that trees come in. Then we had our traditional dinner (breakfast) at IHOP...including hot chocolate!

Then last night we pulled out our family ornaments and decorated the tree. Each year we get the kids a new ornament that depicts a mile stone or event from the year.

Noah got a skateboarder...in honor of receiving his first board for his birthday...

This fall Zach started taking piano lessons...

Bailey has been obsessed with her "strawberries"
(she has the house, car, pool, dolls...etc...she can play for hours...)

Max LOVES cars. He LOVES watching the movie CARS. I felt so bad...when we showed him his ornament he refused to let us put it on the tree. When it was time for bed we had to pry it from his screaming mad hands...poor kiddo...maybe next year he will understand what an ornament is for...

and Owen received his "baby's first Christmas" ornament.

I love having traditions that we all look forward to. It makes the holidays special in our home!

thankful...

I know that Thanksgiving is next week, but I think I just might get a head start on my thankful post...

Today I have been so blessed

I have felt the tender mercies of the Lord through 3 of his sweet daughters!

3 completely separate acts of kindness that have reminded me that the Lord is aware of my needs and can touch the hearts of his servants to help uplift and support

3 separate angels came and shared their love with me
reminded me that to serve is such a blessing

strangely all three came bearing yummy goodies

angel #1 brought some homemade cookies and my favorite soda...
"to help you get through the day" she said

angel #2 asked if I wanted to have lunch with her...Cafe Rio+Friend=great afternoon

angel #3 showed up late in the evening bearing an adorable blanket for Owen and a box of Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice awesomeness!!

what touched my heart isn't what was brought...
it is what was taught...

None of my angels knew that my husband is out of town for 6 days...
None of them knew that my days have been crazy...
None of them knew...but the Lord did...

He knew that I needed some adult conversations...that I needed a boost of energy...
He knew that I have had times of feeling overwhelmed with the task that is before me...

so he sent his angels

Today I am THANKFUL for Him and for His ANGELS!

halloween race 2010...

The Friday before Halloween we had a really fun opportunity to participate in a Halloween race with our friends the Porters and Jensons. It was like a mini Amazing Race. It was SO AMAZINGLY FUN!! The theme was Alice in Wonderland so all teams had to dress up in costumes from the film. Each team was about 6 people and there were 20 teams. We all met at the starting location to receive our first clue. It was a magic eye picture. When you finally are able to see it it said: "Orem City Center Park". So off we raced to the park where we had to slide down the park slide and at the bottom was a table with small cup cakes and glass bottles. The cupcake said "eat me" on it and the bottle said "drink me". Inside the cupcake was a hard bean and once the bottle was empty you could read the clue which said to meet Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum at the museum. Putting the two together quickly lead us to our next location the Bean Museum on BYU campus. When we arrived there and ran inside we were given a CD to play in our car. We then listened to a rapping Caterpillar give us our next clue. We had to decipher his rap to find our next location. We lost a little time on this leg because we heard him say to go to a place where he gets his supplies (a smoke shop) and the word Freedom. So we googled smoke shops on Freedom Blvd, found one and raced there...only we hadn't heard him say the word Center too. After about a 10 minute misstep we realized that there must be a smoke shop on the corner of Freedom and Center St! So off we went. Our next clue was a paper with a bunch of pictures of fat cats on it. There is a fun center here in provo called Fat Cats. Once we arrived there we received a Mad Hatter had that had a sort of Mad Gab sentence on it leading us to the University Mall to find a place called Swanky Hats. We were give a white rose and a playing card with the queen of Hearts on it and told to make the rose red any way that we could and take it to the queen of hearts. I had a painted red heart on my face so we rubbed it on my face and made the white rose red! The clue to our next location was hard to figure out. On the playing card above the "Q"'s in the corner were written the letter D. We finally figured out that it was leading us to Dairy Queen. "DQ" Once there we got our last clue which lead us to the steps of the Utah County Court house where we officially clocked in our time. We came in 9th out of 20 teams. There were many teams that had to text into the organizing couple to receive help. This got you a 15 minute penalty. We were just happy that we didn't have to text in at all. It was so fun and I can't wait to do it again next year. The couple who organized it have done a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory race and a Pirates of the Caribbean one too. I can't wait to see what next years race will bring! TOO FUN!

halloween...

To start off let me just say how thankful I am to live in a place where the majority of the population celebrated Halloween including trick or treating on Saturday instead of Sunday this year! It was SO wonderful to be able to keep the Sabbath day holy without missing out on the festive fun! Saturday was a very blustery, cold, and wet night. Travis took Noah and Zach trick or treating and my Dad took Bailey and Max. The boys tend to run house to house and have more energy to hit the whole neighborhood, so having Grandpa to take the younger ones on a shorter, slower route was great! My mom and I stayed at the house with Owen and handed out candy! The kids all LOVED their costumes and I think they all looked super cute!

all dressed up and ready to go!

Zach the Demon...

Noah the Skeleton...

Bailey as Cleopatra...

Then on Sunday for desert after dinner we made these cute little owls out of cupcakes, oreos, and Reeses pieces.

max is 2...

Is it even possible that my sweet little Max is 2? I just can't believe how quickly time has flown by! Doesn't his face just make you smile?

My sister Jenny got Max this weird squishy ball. Max wasn't quite sure what to think of it...it kinda scared him, but he kinda thought it was funny too!

Max enjoyed opening his presents and finding the toys inside!

"What is it Max?" "I don't know!" is what his face is saying.

Meeting his new friend Mr. Cow! For a few weeks now Max has been attached to Bailey's pink hippo. We thought it was time to get him his own cuddly friend to sleep with.

I found these cute animals on wheels. Max loves anything that moves. Cars are his favorite...we have a TON of cars. So when I found these fun animals on wheels I thought they were a perfect change!

Oh my sweet Max...how much joy he brings into our family! He is smiles, giggles, joy, fun, energy, love, and sweetness packed into a little body!
