And so it begins...with only 6 weeks until this baby joins us we know that our time to transfer Max from the crib into a big boy bed has come. So on Saturday we rearranged the boys room to make space for Max. Travis tried to convince me that we should just buy a toddler bed and a bunch of tubs for his clothes, but I really wanted Max to have a place in our home...not just a make shift spot. So after purchasing a mattress, bunkboard, and rails he now has a place. I also scored an awesome dresser at Ikea for $75...I will post pictures...we haven't put it together yet!
So last night was his first official night. Oh BOY!! Can I just say how much the anticipation of new changes stresses me out! We started the "into bed" process around 7pm. He cried for a bit but got really quite about 20 minutes later. I thought "there is NO WAY it is going to be this easy!" and...it wasn't. He didn't cry mind you, but he was laying on the floor or in his bed until almost 9:15pm. I guess I should be grateful that it wasn't hours of crying, but it took him FOREVER to fall asleep. Once he was asleep we were able to put the boys to bed. Then around 4am he woke up disoriented and unsure of where he was. Travis got up and layed next to him for a while and thought he was asleep, but he wasn't and started to cry. This woke up Noah and Zach. So we decided to plop him into the crib for the rest of the night so that the boys could go back to sleep.
Wish us luck tonight with round #2...

bailey's dance recital...
On Thursday Bailey had her end of year ballet recital! This was a pretty BIG deal for both her and for me. Aside from her weekly class the last two weeks have been filled with purchasing tickets to go, professional pictures that required full hair, makeup and costume, an intense dress rehearsal (also requiring full hair, makeup, and costume), and performing on the HUGE Covey Arts Center stage! She handled everything like a champ and LOVED having her makeup done. She looked so beautiful. I adored her costume and thought she looked just like a professional ballerina.

favorite Bailey quotes of the day:
"Mom, why does my armpit itch when I eat?"
"Mom, do you know why I took my meat out of my hamburger? Because I like it naked!"

father's day project...
So this year I decided to make a gift for Travis. This required a little planning, but I am pleased with the way that it turned out. The only glitch was that on the day I was taking pictures Noah didn't feel well. I had to convince him to get up off the couch and get dressed. He totally looks like I was forcing him to smile...which I guess I was...I plan on retaking his picture and swapping a new one in. I picked up the unfinished letters at Hobby Lobby and modge podged some scrapbook paper on and then inked the edges. The best part is that I really only had to buy 3 letters a "D, A, and Y"...
I think it will be a cute and easy thing to redo each year.

max...
I am trying really hard to stay on top of my scrapin so that when our little guy arrives I am not in over my head! This is a page from the first part of may that I did today. I think it pretty much captures Max right now. He is such a cutie pie!

end of school programs...
The last 2 weeks have been pretty busy! Noah had his 2nd grade program first. It was super cute and fun to see them sing songs talking about what they learned that year! This was the first program that I actually saw Noah sing the words and do the actions. In years past and even in primary he isn't a big fan of performing, but he really seemed to enjoy singing and being with his friends.Next up was Zach's 1st grade program. It was a patriotic themed hour filled with lots of dancing and singing. As always Zach is such a ham. They all looked so cute in their red, white, and blue shirts.
Last year we began a tradition of going camping on the last day of school. It was so fun and so we decided to make it happen again this year. The weather looked kinda iffy so we ended up just going for the evening. It was sunny, but SUPER windy. It was quite the task to get the fire going. We ate our dinner quickly so that they sand wouldn't get into it. It always amazes me how kids don't seem to mind the wind, sand, and temperature! We will have to try again in a few weeks when the weather decides to get warm and STAY warm.
This picture of Zach cracks me up!!! The things this kid thinks up just makes me laugh. He said that the fire was too hot to stand up and roast his marshmallow, so he decided that lying down was the next best course of action.
And finally yesterday was Memorial Day. We had a pretty casual day. Later in the afternoon we headed over to my parents club house pool and enjoyed swimming. Once again the kids didn't seem to mind that it was only 70 degrees, overcast, and windy. They just enjoyed being in the water finally!
I am hoping to weather through the first few weeks of summer. Things tend to be a little rocky until we get into our summer routine, but so far so good. This morning the boys were up and chores done before breakfast. It was fun to pull out our summer writing journals from last year and look at all of the fun they wrote and drew about. All 3 were eager to add their first page to this years section! Hooray for summer!
