My afternoon:
3:30pm: Pick up the kids from school. Noah gets into the car and immediately starts sobbing. SOBBING! He signed up to be Michael Jordan for the 5th grade wax museum. He was told he was going to be able to be Michael Jordan for the wax museum by his teacher. He checks out books today and starts his outline. Right before school ends his teacher tells him that another student is going to be Michael Jordan. Noah has to pick another influential American.
3:35-4:30pm: Swing by home for Zach to change into karate clothes and grab the kids a snack. Normally Noah and Bailey stay home and get homework done, but Noah is feeling to emotional and wants to come...and Bailey can't stay home alone. {sigh} Drive with all 5 kids to karate and drop Zach off. We sit in the car for the 45 minute lesson. Google and try to convince Noah that being James Naismith the INVENTOR of basketball is the most awesome person to be for the wax museum. He reluctantly agrees to be James Naismith.
4:45-5pm: Drive home from karate listening to Zach and Bailey fight. I make the mistake of singing "Pick a little talk a little" from the Music Man. Then I have to explain what it means. Then Bailey decides that singing it quietly to bug Zach is the perfect way to finish our drive. Our drive ends with me screaming at them to be quiet...because somehow screaming is the answer to insisting that they be quiet...
5-6pm: Help Bailey do homework while making soup for dinner and baking the rolls that have taken all day to make. Max and Owen run around acting like dinosaurs and we all know that it is impossible for dinosaurs to be quiet...or walk...or listen to mom...because "dinosaurs didn't have moms" Somewhere in here the hubby calls to say that he has missed the connecting bus to the train and will be 30 minutes later than normal. Great...oh wait...it is also YM tonight...
6:25pm: Set table and dish up dinner. Then wait 15 minutes because who can possibly eat boiling hot soup fresh off the stove...
6:45pm: While eating Owen decides it is funner to dump his soup on his head and tray and screams for another roll. Travis comes home to eat and then leave to be with the young men at the church by 7pm.
And here I sit wishing that I hadn't decided to give up sweets on New Years Eve. Oh what a day!
