holiday adventures...

The day before Thanksgiving was a fun day. Travis had to work and my mom was sick so my Dad and I took the kids out to have a fun day. We started at the Clark Planetarium. We spent almost 2 hours just looking at all of the free exhibits. All the kids loved the exhibit with the ball contraption. I didn't remember to bring in my camera so I don't have pictures of us there, but then we headed over to the Utah State capital building to eat lunch and look around. My dad is a 4th grade teacher and he takes his classes there every year. They have recently restored the whole building including the glass floor. This is the kids favorite part. They had me stand on the floor below and they went up and laid down and squished their cute faces up against the glass. They love to take turns coming down and looking at the people above. It is really quite cool!

This is a picture of the glass floor from the bottom floor.

All 3 kids with their faces on the glass!

Zach trying to show me his whole body!

Even my Dad took a turn!

This is what the glass floor looks like. I think if it hadn't been a holiday there would be more people walking around, but we had the rotunda to ourselves.

They have restored all of the beautiful murals on the rotunda ceiling.

The marble just glows. My dad being the wealth of knowledge that he is told me that these columns were each carved out of a solid piece of marble and are the largest solid columns in the world. The marble comes from Georgia by the way. They are also the original columns from the early 1900's.

After finishing at the capital building we ended the day by Travis and my dad taking the kids swimming at the city rec pool! The kids just crashed when we put them to bed.

We have had a great relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. I always love having Travis home.

What a cool looking place. It's nice that you had it all to yourselves. I'm glad you all had a good Thanksgiving too.

I think it's cool that your Dad goes there every year so he knew all the "inside info". Looks like so much fun - we may have to go check it out!
