change is good...

Well...we are finally in our new home!!!  We moved stuff in last weekend, but I have spent this week cleaning our rental home so that we can turn over the keys Oct 1st.  Boy that was a chore!  It felt like it took forever for ALL of our stuff to be completely moved over.  Now that it is done I am excited to focus on unpacking, organizing, and decorating!

In some of my shopping I came across this cute bamboo recipe box.  For a few years now I have kept my eyes looking out for one that was simple, cute, and would fit all my 4x6 cards.  When I first got married I was still working for DeseretBook.  Right across the hall at the mall was a Hallmark store.  I loved to walk around during my breaks and dream of a kitchen and home filled with such lovely things.  One day I decided that I needed a recipe box.  I found this fun, bright, cheery box and fell in love.  I even took it with me that first Christmas to Georgia and asked if I could go through my mother-in-laws box to gather Jordan family recipes.  I laminated each card and loved the "homemaker" feel that a recipe box brought.  Fast forward a bunch of years and the box that is covered in paper is starting to peel off and I think I have grown out of the loud brightness of it...

This morning as I pulled it out and switched over my cards...sitting in my new kitchen...I had a twinge of "can I really just throw this box away?"  Immediately I told myself, "Change is good!"  So I took a picture first and then threw it away.

Change is good!  The process of moving is grueling, but so gratifying.  I love going through things and deciding what we really need and allowing myself to throw things out that we haven't used in years.

We love our new home.  It completely feels like us...like our home.  I love that.

(don't worry...I promise to post pictures once we are a little more settled!
