A friend of mine sent me this in an email. I thought it was too good not to share...HE HE HE remember these days?
You know you grew up in the 80's if...
You know you grew up in the 80's if...
You ever ended a sentence with the word SIKE
You can sing the rap to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and you can do the Carlton
You know that "Whoah" comes from Joey on Blossom
If you ever watched Fraggle Rock
It was actually worth getting up early to watch Saturday morning cartoons...

You wore a pony tail on the side of your head...
You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school...
You made your mom buy you one of those clips that held your shirt in a knot on the side...You played the game MASH (mansion, apartment, shelter, house)...
You wore stonewashed Jordache jean jackets and were proud of it...
You know the profound meaning of "Wax on...Wax off "...
You wanted to be a Goonie...
You ever wore florescent clothing (some of us did from head to toe)...
You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off and his cheeks shifted...
You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the only girl smurf...
You took a lunch box to school... and you traded Garbage Pail Kids on the playground...
You remember the craze and then the banning of slap bracelets...
You still get the urge to say NOT after every sentence...You thought your childhood best friend would never leave because you exchanged handmade friendship bracelets...
If you ever owned a pair of jelly shoes...
After you saw Pee Wee's Big Adventure you couldn't stop saying, "I know you are, but what am I?"
You remember, "I've fallen and I can't get up!"You remember going to the skating rink before there were in line skates...
If you have ever played with a Skip It...
You remember Boom Boxes and seeing people walk around with them on their shoulders thinking they were all that...
You remember watching both Gremlins movies...
You thought Doogie Howser or Samantha Micelli was hot...
You remember Alf. The little furry brown alien from Melmac...
You remember when New Kids on the Block were cool... and you don't even flinch when people refer to them as NKOTB...
You knew all the characters names and their life stories from the show "Saved By The Bell", the ORIGINAL class...
You know all the words to Bon Jovi- Shot through the Heart...
You just sang those words to yourself didn't you?...You still sing "We are the World"...
You tight rolled your jeans...You ever owned a banana clip...
You remember the commercial "Where's the beef?"...
You used to (and probably still do) say, "What you talkin' 'bout Willis?"...
Your still singing Shot through the Heart in your head right now...

Heather, I love it! This was a trip, that's for sure.
Hilarious! Don't forget the massive bangs and did any of you ever wear multiple stacked layers of socks? of course they were slouched down under leggings!
Wow! I love it that takes me way back! I love how they asked if you kept singing shot through the heart! I totally was both times it mentioned it! That is awesome, oh the memories!
Wow, I feel all nostalgic for the good 'ol days now.
Yes, Lisa, I was VERY in to the layered different colored socks. I was so cool.
I have to admit...I did write love letters to Alyssa Milano (Sam from Who's the Boss). Really, I did. Her address was posted in one of those Pop star magazines (fyi..I think that it also included addresses for Ricky Shroeder and Kirk Cameron). I can still remember being completely devastated and almost heart broken for several weeks because she did not write me back. I can honestly say that I am finally over it :)
Hilarious! and so true. Thanks for posting this. It was fun to reminisce- and a cheerful start to my birthday!
Don't believe Tarin comment. She was only 7 when the 80's ended. She's not a true 80's girl because every time an 80's song comes on the radio she changes the station. Of course, she can live via proxy by my ability to relive the 80's regularly.
Aw crap. Now it's offical. I'm old.
And Travis, I wrote to Kirk Cameron and he never wrote back either. Old wounds die hard.
I also thought Oregon Trail was the coolest game ever. As was the Print Shop. I would make banners to go on my wall - that was back when all of the computer paper was attached together.
The question now stands how many of us are looking forward to the new 90210 on Monday? Yep. I've already got it ready to dvr. It better not suck. Or be like some nasty teen soap opera. Wait. That's what it was the first time. I still watch the reruns every once in a while in the afternoons. It's a perk of being a stay at home mom.
Okay I think I'm the oldest one who's posted so far and I was really small for a lot of things these things, how can y'all remember them? Ahh the good old days with mullets and big hair, my banana clip was black. I did the layered socks and t-shirts with the rolled sleeve, which of course matched my socks. I pegged my pants and I have distinct memory of begging my parents for stirrup pants, the horror! Remember the good bubble gum that came with garbage pail kid cards? Loved Corey Haim and River Phoenix. And I really didn't like NKOTB, thought they were dorks!
Sherrie- the only poster of a boy I ever had on my wall was of Corey Haim. The love started with "Lost Boys." I was so embarrassed about having a picture on a boy on my wall, that I hid it behind my door.
And I turned 13 in 1990, so my "child" years were fully spent in the 80's, so I easily remember all of that stuff- and totally sang "Shot Through the Heart" to myself when I got to that part.
I am just about peeing my pants right now thinking about all those things. I was definitely raised in the 80's. I don't think I'll ever forget UNITS either and I really remember wanting and buying an ESPRIT bag that was twice my size to take to school instead of a backpack and let's not forget the "Mormon Rap". That was classic on our bus going to elementary school. I must admit that I did have the huge bangs that I curled and sprayed with half a bottle of hairspray and they stayed all day.
I totally sang "shot through the heart" as well. Ahhhh, the memories.
Travis, Paul thought that "Sam" was cute too.
