whats wrong with being five?...

So this morning as we were getting ready to run some errands I realize that I haven't seen Zach for a while. I look up stairs and call down to Noah downstairs to see if he is down there. No Zach! After about 5 minutes of searching I find him curled up in a ball on the floor of his closet with the light off. Concerned I flip on the light and ask him what is wrong. Here is his response:

Me-"Zach what is wrong? Is everything okay? Did you get hurt?"
Z- "I hate being five!"
M- "What? What's wrong with being five?"
Z- "I hate being five!"
M-"Why Zach? I think five is pretty big!"
Z-"Noah is stronger than me!"
M-"Zach, Noah is stronger than you because he is older and bigger than you. When you turn 6 you will be strong like Noah was when he was 6!"
Z-"Noah was born first. He will always be bigger and stronger. I hate being five!"

Gosh. What is a mother to say! There really wasn't much I could say to him to pull him out of hating being five. I have noticed over the last few weeks that Zach is totally displaying middle child behavior. He wants everything to be just like what Noah has and how Noah is. If it isn't it is "The worst day of my life!" according to Zach!

I have a niece that does that same thing!!! She is always saying she wishes she was older than her sister and that it's not fair that her sister is older. She is 5 too. HAHA Must be the age thing!!! That is so funny though!!!

Poor little Zach! I can totally picture him doing that.

Poor guy, Rob can totally understand that middle kid syndrome! I bet having a little brother to look up to him will help.

Poor guy! Sometimes I feel like that at twentyfive...but I don't get to hide in the closet like him. Lucky duck.

Well tell Zach that he can show him up by being smarter! HEE HEE, I was a middle child and there is really nothing you can do but give more love right now I think! Have him help more in the kitchen or something he enjoys helping with. Good luck and be happy!

I hate it when they catch me off guard with questions/problems like that. Just wait, it gets even better!

I am sure that Travis can relate. He always wanted to be as strong as his older brother and as smart as his older brother. When he realized that he just couldn't keep up with his older brother he just threw in the towel and joined drama instead.
