At the beginning of each year we sit down as a family and choose 12 topics for us to study during Family Home Evening. (It is cute to hear the things that they are interested in learning about.) Then we assign each topic to a month. Having a monthly topic helps us have a focus for the month. Then each week we pick a certain aspect of our topic to learn about. Preparing a weekly lesson is so much easier when we don't need to think about what to teach.
So here is our 2010 FHE topics:
January: Old Testiment Stories
February: Love-Sharing
March: Heaven-Plan of Salvation
April: The Ressurection
May: Agency-Good Choices
June: Forgiveness & Repentance
July: Church History
August: Temples
September: Testimonies
October: Missionary Work
November: Family History Work
December: Christ like attributes-Birth of Christ
